#### FAQ: ###### Q: Where am I? You are reading A Drowned Book, a tome within The Miskatonic Occult Literature Library and Unusually Special Collections Department. ###### Q: Why is this named The Drowned Book? A Drowned Book is the first book you start with in Book of Hours. What it becomes is dependent on your selected librarian 'origin.' ###### Q: Who are you? [Eldra Echo, head librarian of The MOLLUSC Department.](https://www.eldraecho.com) ###### Q: What is this? A notes section, a place where I keep notes about the video games I play on stream. Right now, it's focused on the Secret Histories games, in particular, Book of Hours. I use an Obsidian Vault as a sort of single-player wiki. If you're looking for blogposts, memes, and other longform content about the Secret Histories games, you're looking for [The Blog of Hours](https://www.eldraecho.com/blogofhours) on my main website. ###### Q: Why is this? People say they like the way I write and take notes. I take notes anyway while playing games. I might as well share them with you, no? ###### Q: Why can't I edit the wiki? Why is the wiki so messy? Why does it feature stuff like fan theories? Because it's not a wiki, it just looks like one. The point is to track the notes I've personally made, as well as my personal commentary on things. ###### Q: How did you make this? I use Obsidian (Free) and pay for Obsidian Publish ($10 USD/month) and link it to my Squarespace as a subdomain. I use the Inline Scripts plugin to add the Principles symbols to the notes. If I'm live on stream, it should be obvious. If Eldra lies sleeping, then I suggest checking out the following resources. #### Resources ###### Q: What is the Secret Histories universe? The Secret Histories universe is a fictional universe by the Weather Factory featuring a pantheon of gods or god-like powers and forces known as The Hours. It's been described as Lovecraftian and cozy. There are two mainline games in the Secret Histories universe: Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours. In Cultist Simulator, you attempt apotheosis (ascendency into godhood, or something similar) and in Book of Hours, you run an occult library. The third mainline game, Traveling at Night, will be a CRPG in the vein of Disco Elysium and is currently under development. ###### Q: Where do I start with the Secret Histories universe? [Just play Book of Hours.](https://www.eldraecho.com/blogofhours/just-play-boh) You don't have to play Cultist Simulator first. If you have decision paralysis and really cannot make a choice, check out my [[Spoiler-tastic Quickstart Guide]]. ###### Q: Where can I find more information about Cultist Simulator? * [Cultist Simulator Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/718670/Cultist_Simulator/) and [Cultist Simulator Steam guides](https://steamcommunity.com/app/718670/guides/) * [Cultist Simulator page on The Weather Factory's website ](https://weatherfactory.biz/cultist-simulator/) * Cultist Simulator wiki: https://cultistsimulator.fandom.com/ * [Frangiclave (data scrape of the Cultist Simulator files)](https://uadaf.theevilroot.xyz/frangiclave/) ###### Q: Where can I find more information about Book of Hours? * [Book of Hours Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1028310/BOOK_OF_HOURS/) and [Steam guides](https://steamcommunity.com/app/1028310/guides/) * [Book of Hours page on The Weather Factory's website ](https://weatherfactory.biz/book-of-hours/) * [Book of Hours wiki](https://book-of-hours.fandom.com/) * [Rowenarium (data scrape of the Book of Hours files)](https://uadaf.theevilroot.xyz/rowenarium/) ###### Q: Where can I find more information about the Secret Histories universe? * [The Weather Factory official website](https://weatherfactory.biz) * [The Weather Factory subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/weatherfactory/) * [The Secret Histories wiki (features cross-game analysis, analysis of content from outside the two mainline games, etc.)](https://secret-histories.fandom.com/) #### Eldra FAQ ###### Q: You sure seem to like this stuff a lot. Do you work for the Weather Factory/write for the Weather Factory/know them personally? I do like this stuff a lot. I do not work for the Weather Factory, write for the Weather Factory, or know the Weather Factory in a personal or professional capacity. I'm just a very eager fan of their work. ###### Q: Have you played/100%'d all Secret Histories content? I personally have not. I have won a few rounds of Cultist Simulator and I'm okay at Book of Hours. I have not played The Lady Afterwards. ###### Q: Why do you switch between American and British English so much? A: I tend to use American English but was taught English by someone who primarily used British English. A part of it has to do with the fact the games use British English for the most part. ###### Q: Why did you focus on Secret Histories games? I know them the best of all the games I play, I like them the best, and frankly, I didn't want to invest a lot of time intro a project that would get taken down over copyright disputes. The Weather Factory has a great license for fanworks called [The Sixth History Community Licence](https://weatherfactory.biz/sixth-history-community-licence/). There's more info on this [blog post](https://www.eldraecho.com/blogofhours/why-do-you-play-book-of-hours-so-much). ###### Q: Why do you have both The Blog of Hours and The Drowned Book? Blog of Hours is for long-form posts, whereas The Drowned Book section is like Frangiclave or Rowenarium in that it's a repository of more raw information, with less commentary. Think of the notes section as the primary sources, whereas Blog of Hours serves as secondary sources. Simply put, if Blog of Hours is an essay, The Drowned. Book is the dictionary.
